Let’s bust some travel advisor myths

You might think you will fare better making your bookings based on your loyalty status, but that is not the case.

Bookings made through a travel advisor are prioritized for upgrades ahead of loyalty members, regardless of status level. (And you still get your points!)

Why? Because advisors are backed by global agency networks that maintain strong relationships with hotel brands and consistently deliver high volume business across properties worldwide, far beyond what any single traveler can provide.

myth #1

You might think that working with a travel advisor means you will pay more because of commissions, but that is not the case.

Our commissions are paid by the travel partner, not by you.

Why? Because travel advisors are considered an extension of a brand’s marketing and sales strategy, and commissions are built into their business model. In other words, you get the perks and expertise of a travel advisor, paid for by the travel partner as part of doing business.

myth #2

You might think travel advisors are only for luxury travelers, but that is not the case.

Travel advisors work across a wide range of budgets and travel styles, from single-night hotel stays to more complex, multi-layered trips.

Why? Because everyone deserves expert guidance, along with the added benefit of having their hotel reservations automatically monitored and rebooked if a better rate becomes available. (Only Fora advisors provide this service!)

myth #3

You might think you can find the same options and pricing online as a travel advisor can access, but that is not the case.

Some rates and experiences are only available through travel advisors. This can include multiple pricing options for the same room, as well as behind-the-scenes, after-hours, and expert-led experiences that are not publicly bookable.

Why? Because travel advisors work within established partnerships and networks that provide access to inventory, opportunities, and insight that are simply not part of the public booking landscape.

myth #4

You might think that booking through a travel advisor means you will miss out on earning loyalty points, but that is not the case.

You still earn all eligible loyalty points directly with the hotel or rental company.

Why? Because your reservations are made directly with the brand, allowing you to receive your loyalty points while I secure additional perks on your behalf, often beyond what is offered through loyalty programs alone.

myth #5

You might think there is only one rate available through a hotel brand for a given room on a specific date, but that is not the case.

There are always multiple rates available for the exact same room type, most of which are only accessible through travel advisors and include different combinations of perks and amenities.

Why? Because hotels participate in several travel networks, each offering their own contracted rates and inclusions. This allows me to compare options and select the right balance of value and perks for your stay, at a rate that is equal to or better than what you can book on your own.

myth #6

You might think that working with a travel advisor means giving up control over your trip, but that is not the case.

I handle the research and present you with thoughtfully curated options, but every decision is yours to make.

Why? Because my role is to simplify the process, not take it over. If you already have a hotel in mind or prefer a specific partner, I am always happy to build around your choices while adding insight, access, and value along the way.

myth #7

You might think you need a big, complex itinerary to work with a travel advisor, but that is not the case.

You can work with a travel advisor for something as simple as a single hotel stay, even without a larger trip planned.

Why? Because having expert guidance, along with access to better rates and perks, is just as valuable for a short stay as it is for a more involved itinerary.

myth #8

You might think it is quicker and easier to book everything yourself online, but that is not the case.

While you are spending time studying neighborhoods, comparing options, and sorting through endless reviews, I have access to a curated set of trusted recommendations through Fora, which I tailor to your preferences and budget.

Why? Because planning travel, especially in a new country or region, takes time and can quickly feel overwhelming. My role is to take the legwork off your plate, provide vetted recommendations, and ultimately give you confidence that your trip will unfold exactly as you imagine.
